Two players and a coach from South County were honored by the Coastal Athletic League for their work on the softball field this spring.

Led by the double-digit performances in kills and assists by Grace Shepherd and Megan Flores, the King City Lady Mustang volleyball team defeated the North Salinas Vikings and Seaside Spartans to improve to 3-0 at the start of non-league play.

Students from Carrillo’s Karate Do Studios in King City and Greenfield came home with medals after competing on Saturday at the 29th Annual Fall Karate Championships and Demonstration at Homestead High School in Cupertino.

Three of the four boys soccer teams from South County were victorious on the soccer pitch and two girls teams won games in non-league play last week. This is the final week of non-league games for the local teams.

The Greenfield High School softball team held an award night last week to honor the players on the Lady Bruin and Lady Bruin JV teams.

With momentum on their side, the Greenfield Bruins went for a win instead of a tie, but a pass for two points in the end zone fell incomplete, resulting in a 22-21 Santa Lucia Divisional loss against Robert Louis Stevenson in Pebble Beach.
