Bruins, Mustangs split wins
Home was a tough place to play for the Greenfield Bruins and King City Mustang baseball teams in their two-game Mission Trail Athletic League series. The Bruins won 5-4 at King City in the first game of the series and the Mustangs responded with a 8-1 win
Munoz, Contawe in finals
For the second straight year Roman Munoz of King City and Daniel Contawe of Soledad will be representing their respective high schools on Friday at the Central Coast Section Track and Field Championships.
Aztecs end season with wins
Despite finishing with a league mark of 8-6 an overall record of 17-10, the Soledad High Lady Aztecs were unable to secure a Central Coast Section playoff berth.

Maria Hernandez scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead the Greenfield Lady Bruin basketball team to a 48-33 win in Monterey against the host Santa Catalina Cougars on Feb. 6.
Emily Espino to play ball in San Diego
Emily Espino, the 19-year-old daughter of Lorenzo and Denise of King City will be continuing her education and softball playing at San Diego Christian College next year after signing a Letter of Intent last week at Hartnell College.

King City High School 2012 graduate Matthew Flores has just finished his senior year at Salem International University in Salem, West Virginia.
REACHING HIGH
South County high school athletic teams began observing “dead week” this past Sunday and athletes will have no contact with their coaches until July 30. Football, cross country and volleyball teams will resume regular practice after that date.
South County teams complete league season
The regular season ends this week for local high school volleyball teams as Mission Trail Athletic League games were played on Monday and today. King City has two games remaining and will be seeded on Saturday in the Central Coast Section Division IV Playoffs.
