King City continues solid play
With over half the league season completed, the King City Lady Mustangs are in second place in team standings with a 7-1 record. King City won two games last week, defeating the host Carmel Padres 3-1 and beating the Pacific Grove Breakers on the road.

After scoring just 14 points in four games, the Greenfield football team erupted for six touchdowns to down the visiting Harbor Pirates 42-7 in the Bruins Santa Lucia Division opener.

South County football players took the field for one last time high school players last Friday at the 33rd Annual All-Star High School Football Game at Rabobank Football Stadium in Salinas. Six players from Soledad, two players from Greenfield, two from King City, and one from Gonzales High participated in the game.
Lady Bruin volleyball hosts league
Volleyballs were flying at the Greenfield High Gym on Saturday as the Lady Bruin teams hosted the Santa Lucia Division Jamboree.
Spartans edged by Wildcatz, 10-9
The host Watsonville Wildcatz held off the Gonzales Spartan baseball team in the final two innings to defeat the visitors 10-9 in a non-league game last Thursday afternoon.
Local karate students earn black belts
Students from Carrillo’s Karate Studios in Greenfield and King City earned 1st degree and 2nd degree black belts respectively on Nov. 18 in Milpitas at the Funakoshi Shotakan Studios.
