The Greenfield High School and Soledad High School cross country teams came home with team awards and medals for their participation at the Third Annual Dry River Run at Hollister.

Three of the four boys soccer teams from South County were victorious on the soccer pitch and two girls teams won games in non-league play last week. This is the final week of non-league games for the local teams.

Greenfield High School quarterback Andy Hernandez was voted the Back of the Year of the Mission Trail Athletic League Division. Hernandez, a senior exhibited his versatility on the field gaining over 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards passing for the season.

Led by first place finishers Luis Meza and Maria Hernandez the Greenfield boys and girls won the varsity divisions of the Valley Meet on Thursday at King City’s San Lorenzo Park. The cross country meet featured South County teams Greenfield, Soledad and host King City.

San Ardo Boxing Club member Kevin Perez was the headliner at the Battle of the Coast Boxing Show that took place in the Kennedy Fitness Club on Saturday, June 10.

The South Valley Stealth (SVS) Softball program completed the summer season with great results and great community support.

Wins over Greenfield and Anzar gave the King City Lady Mustangs a 10-4 league record and in a first-place tie with the Lady Bruins in the Coastal League standings.

Four youth football players from Greenfield have had plenty of success this spring as members of the Monterey County Hit Squad Football Team.

Marlen Arreola and Kevin Perez of the San Ardo Boxing Club were victorious in their matches on Saturday night at the Rock Gym in Salinas, coming home with unanimous decisions.

There will be a battle on the Greenfield High School basketball court as the Greenfield Fire Association faces off against the Greenfield Police Department on Sunday, July 1.
