South County league plays tonight

High School football teams from Gonzales, Soledad and King City will be competing tonight at Greenfield High in the South County Seven on Seven Passing League.

Basketball teams compete in non-league games

With the league seasons a month away, local high school basketball teams are traveling near and far to play in non-league contests.

All-League teams announced

Adrian Lopez, a senior infielder and pitcher for the Soledad High baseball team was chosen as the Mission Trail Athletic League Player of the Year in a meeting of league head coaches.

Runners compete at Earlybird Invitational

Cross country runners from Gonzales, Greenfield, and King City joined over 70 teams and 2000 plus runners at the Earlybird Invitational Cross Country Meet.

King City frosh-soph win invitational title

With wins in four events and multiple points in many events the King City High frosh-soph boys track team won their division at the King City Lions’ and Young Farmers’ 74th Invitational Track Meet. Esteban Deniz led the Broncos with wins in the 1600 and 3200.

A nice cloud cover protected the lead runners on Saturday during the Salinas Valley Half Marathon that began at the Soledad Mission and finished 13.1 miles later at Pessagno Winery in Gonzales.

Lady Bruins beat York, lose to Spartans

The Greenfield High softball team split their league games as they defeated visiting York and lost to the Gonzales Spartans. The Lady Bruins beat the York Falcons 18-1 on Friday and lost 7-1 earlier in the week to Gonzales.

Lady Bruins beat Gonzales, 48-37

Maria Hernandez had a double-double in scoring and rebounding to lead the Greenfield High Bruins to a 48-37 victory over visiting Gonzales last Friday night. The win helped the Lady Bruins improve to 3-7 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.
