Greenfield optimistic despite setbacks

Three losses at the North Salinas Bob Steinbach Classic did not dampen the optimism of Greenfield’s first-year head coach Adam Barsenas. The Bruins fell to 1-7 with one non-league game remaining to play.

Alize Ortiz scored 16 points and Maria Hernandez scored 14 points as the Greenfield Lady Bruins defeated Gonzales High 46-38 on Thursday in the Roger Fernando Gym.

Lady Bruins beat York, lose to Spartans

The Greenfield High softball team split their league games as they defeated visiting York and lost to the Gonzales Spartans. The Lady Bruins beat the York Falcons 18-1 on Friday and lost 7-1 earlier in the week to Gonzales.

Pacific Grove Breakers rout Bruins, 66-40

The host Pacific Grove Breakers scored in double digits every quarter to overwhelm the Greenfield Bruins boys basketball 66-40 last Tuesday night on the Monterey Peninsula. The Breakers improved to 3-0 in the Mission Trail Athletic League and the Bruins dropped their third straight league game.
