Lady Bruins win share of title

The Greenfield Lady Bruin softball team completed the regular season in the Coastal Athletic League and won a co-championship with the King City Mustangs as both teams finished with 11-4 records.

Boxers fight in San Leandro

Local fighters Kevin Perez and Ivan Almanza represented the San Ardo Boxing Club on Saturday in a boxing show in San Leandro.

Lady Bruin volleyball hosts league

Volleyballs were flying at the Greenfield High Gym on Saturday as the Lady Bruin teams hosted the Santa Lucia Division Jamboree.

RUNNING CHAMPS

For the third straight year the Greenfield boys are cross country champions of the Mission Trail Athletic League. The Bruins had five runners earn All-MTAL medals after out running the rest of the field. Greenfield finished first, followed by Pacific Grove and King City.

Anzar Hawks no match for Greenfield Bruins

The Greenfield Bruin baseball team scored 12 runs with six hits in a home game, and banged out 12 hits in another to win on the road in a two-game series with the Anzar Hawks.

Bruins track team competes in last MTAL championship

A sixth straight championship also meant an end of an era for the King City boys track and field team. The Mustangs won the Mission Trail Athletic League in what was the last championship meet for them in the MTAL as next year King City, Gonzales, Greenfield and Soledad will be members of the Pacific Coast Athletic League.

Munoz, Contawe in finals

For the second straight year Roman Munoz of King City and Daniel Contawe of Soledad will be representing their respective high schools on Friday at the Central Coast Section Track and Field Championships.

Bruins hold off Pirates, 8-6

A sixth inning rally by the Greenfield Bruin baseball team helped the host team defeated the Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates 8-6 on Friday at Hartnell College in Salinas.

All-League Coastal team announced

Greenfield High School quarterback Andy Hernandez was voted the Back of the Year of the Mission Trail Athletic League Division. Hernandez, a senior exhibited his versatility on the field gaining over 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards passing for the season.

Locals place at Monterey Bay Invitational

Cross country runners from all four South County high schools traveled to Toro Regional Park in Salinas to run in the Monterey Bay Invitational.
