King City volleyball team improves to 3-0

Led by the double-digit performances in kills and assists by Grace Shepherd and Megan Flores, the King City Lady Mustang volleyball team defeated the North Salinas Vikings and Seaside Spartans to improve to 3-0 at the start of non-league play.

Lady Bruins softball team honored

Team members, coaches and families for the Greenfield High Lady Bruin softball team celebrated a successful season with an awards night presentation and banquet May 23 at the school’s student union.

Bruins track team competes in last MTAL championship

A sixth straight championship also meant an end of an era for the King City boys track and field team. The Mustangs won the Mission Trail Athletic League in what was the last championship meet for them in the MTAL as next year King City, Gonzales, Greenfield and Soledad will be members of the Pacific Coast Athletic League.

Tourney kicks off basketball season

Basketball balls will be flying through the air on Friday as local teams take part in the South County high school basketball tournaments at King City High School for the boys and Gonzales High for the girls.

The Greenfield Lady Bruin softball team lost contests last week to the Pacific Grove Breakers and the Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates and are now 1-3 in the Mission Trail Athletic League.

Athletes to compete at CCS semifinals

Track and field athletes from all four South County high schools will be running, throwing, and jumping on Saturday at the Central Coast Section Track and Field Semifinals at Gilroy High School.
