Soldier who went AWOL found near San Mateo
A soldier who left base in a Humvee without permission last Tuesday at Fort Hunter Liggett in Jolon was apprehended later that evening by law enforcement in San Mateo.

Greenfield man found guilty of battery, assault on peace officers
Ismael Valdez, 37, of Greenfield, was found guilty by jury of battery upon a peace officer, resisting an officer and assault on peace officers. The case was heard by Superior Court Judge Efren Iglesia.

On Sept. 7, at about 8:50 p.m., a citizen called 911 and reported a subject who shot a firearm in the 300 block of Apple Avenue in the City of Greenfield, and was still in the area.
