It was deep and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Manuel “Manny” Cuellar who peacefully passed away on May 4, 2018. Manny was born September 15, 1929 in Santa Rosa, California and raised in Greenfield.
He married Sara Ramirez in 1953. They made their home in Salinas, and raised four children. Manny was devoted to his wife, family, friends, and his faith. He was a Eucharistic Minister in the Catholic Church, and he and Sara visited all California Missions. Their favorite mission was San Juan Bautista. He loved to work and he enjoyed good food, family fun, celebrations, laughter, gardening and cars. He was a great man, a wonderful father and grandfather, and an immediate friend to everyone he met.
He and Sara were married for 64 years until her death last fall. Manny is survived by his daughters, Carol (Ron Eastwood); Maria; Hope (Tony Garate); and his son Manuel Jr.; his sisters, Julia and Lina; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, godchildren; and friends.
Visitation will be held 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. Monday, May 14,2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
A Funeral Mass will be held 1:00p.m. Monday. May 14, 2018, at the Madonna Del Sasso Church, 320 East Laurel Drive, Salinas, CA.93906.
Burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
