Libraries to be closed during winter recess

MONTEREY COUNTY — All Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) branches will be closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 1 for the winter recess.

“Remember to check out enough books and DVDs to keep you entertained through the holidays. In addition, our online branch at www.eMCFL.org never closes,” said MCFL in a news release. “Try out your new holiday tablets and hand-held smart devices by downloading eBooks, eAudio and digital magazines. You can also monitor your account and place holds on items. Have your library card handy when you login.”

All book returns slots will also be closed during the winter recess, so hold on to all books and DVDs through the holidays.

Concerned about overdue fines during the winter recess? Don’t worry as January is Fine Free Month. Return overdue library materials during the month of January and the library will remove all the charges associated with the late return. Some exceptions apply.

Monterey County Free Libraries are located in Aromas, Big Sur, Las Palmas/River Road, Carmel Valley, Castroville, Gonzales, Greenfield, King City, Marina, Pajaro, Prunedale, San Ardo, San Lucas, Seaside and Soledad.

Visit the website www.eMCFL.org for branch hours in the new year or for details about services.
