GREENFIELD — Take a magic carpet ride this weekend with students from Mary Chapa Academy as they present the school’s fourth annual spring musical, “Disney’s Aladdin Kids.”

The production opens Friday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday, March 17, at Greenfield High School, 225 El Camino Real. Doors open 30 minutes before the show.

“The students and music committee at Mary Chapa Academy have been working very hard to bring forth the production of ‘Disney’s Aladdin Kids,’” said Music Director Juana Botello.

Nearly 50 elementary-age students make up the cast of “Aladdin Kids,” a book by David Simpatico based on the 1992 Disney animated film, featuring an Academy Award-winning score by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. The musical adventure is filled with magic, mayhem and romance, and includes such iconic characters as Princess Jasmine, Iago, Jafar, the Genie and, of course, Aladdin, alongside a large ensemble.

“These students have a great work ethic and have given up weekends, holidays and after-school activities to make sure that this production is a great success,” Botello said.

Pre-sale admission tickets are $1 and can be bought at Mary Chapa Academy’s main office, 490 El Camino Real, in Greenfield, or call 831-674-5586. Tickets will also be available at the door for $2.
