Hartnell distance runner and Greenfield resident Jaime Garcia edged 15-year-old Luis Martinez to be crowned the overall winner of the 2017 Harvest Run Sunday morning in Greenfield.

An inspired Marina Mariners football started strong and finished strong in a 47-16 win over the host Greenfield High Bruins last Friday in Greenfield.

With over half the league season completed, the King City Lady Mustangs are in second place in team standings with a 7-1 record. King City won two games last week, defeating the host Carmel Padres 3-1 and beating the Pacific Grove Breakers on the road.

For a team that entered their game with Greenfield having lost four of its last five contests, the Santa Cruz Cardinals were impressive in a 48-22 win over the Bruins last Friday night.

The King City Lady Mustangs are 5-1 in the Mission Trail Athletic League as they defeated the Anzar Hawks in three games in San Juan Bautista and beat visiting Soledad High in three games.

A pair of San Ardo Boxing Club member came home with split decisions after boxing matches in Sacramento on Saturday.

The Gonzales boys and Soledad boys cross country teams defeated Robert Louis Stevenson on Thursday at Dick Force Stadium in Gonzales.
