SOUTH COUNTY — The 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance ended in excitement for King City resident Michele Ing, as she was the lucky winner of a new 2019 INFINITI QX50. The car was given away at the event’s annual charity drawing, a fundraising partnership between Concours d’Elegance and local nonprofit Kinship Center.
“I bought a ticket to support Kinship Center. I am a past leadership board member and it’s a great organization that I continue to support. I didn’t think I was going to win,” Ing said, adding that donating to charity and winning a car is a unique opportunity.
Greenfield resident and Kinship Center volunteer Danny Silveira sold Ing the winning ticket, which was just one of 200 tickets that Silveira sold in total.
“I just like selling tickets, and selling for Kinship Center is so easy because it’s such a great organization,” Silveira said.
Doreen Luke, director of development for Kinship Center, praised the fundraising efforts of Silveira and the generosity of drawing ticket purchasers.
“Danny was such an important part of our campaign this year. He raised a total of $20,000 for us by selling these tickets, and we couldn’t be more thankful for him,” Luke said. “We are so grateful to all of our volunteers who helped us sell and for all the generous individuals like Michele Ing who purchased drawing tickets.”
As part of this world-class automotive event, this partnership affords Kinship Center the funds to continue serving children in the community who need it most.
“Each year Kinship Center is able to raise critical funds that change children’s lives by selling drawing tickets for a beautiful car donated to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance by a national manufacturer,” says Kinship Center Co-Founder and Executive Director Carol Bishop.
Over the 19 years of its partnership with the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Kinship Center has raised more than a half million dollars. These funds have given a second chance at life to thousands of the most vulnerable children in local communities.
Since 1984, Kinship Center has helped children who carry the scars of severe past abuse, neglect or abandonment find safety and stability in a permanent, loving adoptive family.
To help ensure long-term success for children with such special needs, Kinship Center also provides the families with comprehensive support services such as education, counseling, crisis intervention and one-on-one help.
“This is the essential support that enables the family to understand the neurological impact of abuse on a child and learn how to help traumatized children heal,” Bishop said. “Unfortunately, this kind of support is not fully publicly funded. Without donated dollars, we would not be able to give these children a new beginning so they can grow to healthy adulthood. The partnership we share with Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance literally saves children’s lives.”
