GREENFIELD — Mee Memorial Hospital has received a $2.5 million grant from the Central California Alliance for Health that will go toward the expansion of the hospital’s outpatient clinic in Greenfield.

“We are honored to have been awarded this grant from Central California Alliance for Health,” said Susan Childers, CEO of Mee Memorial Hospital, in a news release. “With the new grant, Mee Memorial will be better able to support local efforts to coordinate care and provide better outcomes for patients throughout our community.”

The Greenfield project will nearly double the existing 7,000-square-foot facility located at 467 El Camino Real, expanding the capacity of outpatient primary care services. The clinic will increase by 6,091 square feet with an interior renovation of the existing reception, waiting and public restroom areas.

According to Childers, the Mee Memorial Clinic in Greenfield is one of the busiest in South County. The clinic’s patient volumes have significantly increased over the past few years, and “many patients and families lack access to quality health care services,” she said.

The multi-million-dollar expansion and renovation project will help meet the community’s growing demand for medical care. Construction is set to begin this spring.

Central California Alliance for Health established the Medi-Cal Capacity Grant Program in July 2015 in response to the rapid expansion of the Medi-Cal population as a result of the Affordable Care Act. The Alliance offers grants to local organizations to support efforts to increase the availability, quality and access of health care and supportive services for Medi-Cal members in Merced, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.
