GREENFIELD — Greenfield Lions Club, Family Giving Tree, Celeste Delamore and Al Galante donated a 55-inch TV to Oak Avenue Elementary School, presenting the gift to staff Sept. 7.

“The Lions Club identified two schools in the district they wanted to give a really nice 55-inch television to,” said Principal Sonia Aramburo. “They selected Oak Avenue Elementary and Mary Chapa Academy.”

The Lions Club came up with the idea to give the televisions to the schools because one of the Oak Avenue Parent Teacher Association members is married to a Lions Club member.

The Lions looked at the schools they wanted to donate to and the PTA member suggested the older two schools.

“We are going to be creating our Maker’s Space and there are two interactive monitors and one more monitor that teachers can use for teaching,” Aramburo said. “It’s going to work perfectly in our Maker’s Space.”

Aramburo said that she is excited about the direction that Oak Avenue Elementary is going in with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics).

The school is also going to be helping out the Greenfield Lions Club with its Thanksgiving community meal to thank the club for the gift.
