Albert C. Bernasconi, 82 formerly of Greenfield, Calif. passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 in Las Vegas.

He was the son of Angelo and Maria Bernasconi who were immigrants from Switzerland. Albert was born during the Great Depression & just prior to World War II. These two events had a profound influence on his life & contributed in part to his strength of character. Albert graduated from King City High School and was also a graduate from Santa Clara University and the University of Nevada Reno. He spoke very highly and fondly about all of those institutions.

Albert served honorably in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge he began his career as a school teacher and as a troubled youth counselor with Clark County, Nevada. Most of his adult life was spent working with children who were abandoned, physically and emotional abused. He was a very valued employee while working at Child Haven in Las Vegas, NV.

Albert was quite the world traveler and adventurer, climbing such renowned peaks as Mt. Denali in Alaska, Mt. Kilimanjaro in Kenya & Mt. Aconcagua in Chile, just to name a few. Albert made a lasting impact on the lives he touched & he will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his cousins Jane Breschini of Fresno, Evelyn Roth of Templeton, and Arleen Dedini of King City.Albert had no immediate family in Las Vegas, Nevada where he lived and worked. He developed a very close friendship with Alice Smith with whom he worked. In fact, he looked upon Alice Smith and her husband Joseph Dempsey as his adopted family.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 803 Elm Ave. in Greenfield. Per Albert’s wishes, he will be laid to rest beside his parents in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Greenfield, Calif. with Military Honors at the graveside following the mass.
