Measure C failing by narrow margin

GREENFIELD — The Special Parcel Tax measure to support the Greenfield Fire Protection District is close to approval with 65.76 percent; however, the measure needs two-thirds, or 67 percent, voter approval to pass.

As of the semi-final results released Tuesday evening by Monterey County Elections, 695 voters cast their mail-in ballots — with 457 voting in favor of Measure C versus 238 against. Voter turnout was at nearly 15 percent.
