CASA of Monterey County is looking for adults who are willing to meet with foster children and advocate for their needs and is hosting a free information session in Gonzales next week.

The search is on for the next Miss Salinas Valley Fair, as the application period officially opens for local high school girls to apply for the 2019 competition.

Local families, youth and adults are invited to be a part of the annual Gang Prevention Summit on Saturday, Jan. 27, a free event at the Salinas Clubhouse of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monterey County at 85 Maryal Drive, behind the Salinas Sports Complex. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.

Pinnacles National Park will receive a field trip grant for the 2018-19 school year from the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service. This $5,200 grant will be used to help underserved schools with the cost of transportation to Pinnacles National Park.
