GREENFIELD — Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the area of Arroyo Seco and Thorne roads at 6:58 a.m. on March 17.
An investigation determined Brandy Jones, 34, of Greenfield, was driving a Ford Focus northbound along Arroyo Seco Road. At the same time, three farm labor buses were unloading workers on the southbound side of the road.
Workers were crossing from the road, and CHP says Jones was driving at 45 mph as she approached the buses, and slowed to between 30 and 35 mph as she passed. A 56-year-old female worker from Salinas walked between two buses into the road and into Jones’ path and was struck by the vehicle.
The woman who was hit died from her injuries at the scene. Her identity was being withheld by CHP pending notification of her family.
