GREENFIELD — Acting Police Chief Gregory Allen has accepted the position of police chief for Morro Bay, announced the Greenfield Police Department yesterday in a news release.
Allen, who came to Greenfield with 34 years of law enforcement experience with the Los Angeles Police Department, was selected out of more than 40 candidates. He will be sworn in June 2.
Allen started his career in Greenfield as police commander in October 2015, before serving as the department’s acting chief for the past eight months.
The departure comes just as the city selected a permanent city manager, Jaime Fontes, who will now have the task of finding a new police chief.
