GREENFIELD — Scheid Family Wines and RCT Land Co. are hosting a community meeting next Tuesday to obtain ideas from residents for a new community site that includes neighborhood retail, mixed-density housing and industrial and freeway commercial development.
The Nov. 12 meeting will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Community Center, located at Patriot Park, 1351 Oak Ave.
Scheid and RCT (Franscioni) are landowners and joint sponsors of a mixed-use development within an approximately 262-acre area recently annexed to the City of Greenfield.
“Both Scheid and Franscioni both desire that the local community is enhanced economically, culturally and visually, and that the local economy diversify and integrate more extensively and deeply,” according to a press release.
Projects within the annexation area will leverage opportunities presented by ongoing housing demand, expansion of the Monterey County wine industry, location along the heavily used Highway 101 corridor and ready access to the popular Pinnacles National Park to achieve these results.
According to Scheid and Franscioni, potential benefits of the project include:
• Significant new mixed-density residential development to meet the City’s housing needs;
• New community and neighborhood-oriented retail and freeway-oriented commercial development;
• Supportive transportation, industry and commerce oriented to Monterey County’s expanding Wine Corridor, including visitor accommodations; and
• Potential secondary social, cultural amenities and live/work spaces designed to enrich the lives of residents, the local workforce and the quality of the visitor experience.
