Honoring veterans

For the past eight years, I have had the opportunity to attend Memorial Day services at the Gonzales Cemetery to honor those that fought for our country, including my uncle Pat Polastro.

Every year it amazes me for all those that attend, whether the crowd is small or late. We attend to honor past, present and future vets and to say thank you for your service to our country.

Put MBCP back on agenda

I concur with Mr. Uribe’s thoughtful commentary in the May 31 Rustler (“Council Should Reconsider Joining MBCP,” A3).

May I add that the MBCP has promised to build energy generating infrastructure — wind turbines and solar panels — in South County. That would mean jobs, both permanent and short-term, for King City folks.

The alternative Pilot energy option has very few details as yet, but I’ll predict that it will purchase renewable power that is generated elsewhere and bring it to King City, a much less beneficial path for our town.

I urge Mayor LeBarre, Councilwoman Acosta and Councilman DeLeon to join with their colleagues Councilman Cullen and Councilman Victoria (along with 19 other Central Coast towns and cities) to put MBCP back on the council agenda and vote to accept it.
