Greenfield wins league home game

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield boys basketball team won their first league home game of the season last week, downing the Trinity Christian Warriors 64-51. Greenfield led 31-29 at halftime, then outscored the Warriors 17-6 in the third quarter to take command of the game.

Angel Espinosa scored 14 points with two 3-point baskets to lead the Bruins in scoring. Jesus Compean scored 11 points with two rebounds and two assists and Agustin Pantoja scored 11 points with three 3-point baskets and three rebounds. Angel Villagomez joined his teammates in double figures in scoring with 10 points and had three rebounds. Brayan Ceballos added eight points, with six rebounds and two steals.

On Feb. 7 the Bruins fell behind 21-7 in the first quarter and trailed 47-22 at halftime in an 85-38 loss to the visiting Stevenson Pirates. Ernesto Martinez led Greenfield with 12 points and finished with five rebounds. Angel Villagomez added eight points with two 3-point baskets and Oscar Villagomez scored seven points with one 3-point basket and two steals.

The Bruins play tonight at King City against the Mustangs and play their final game on Friday at Carmel.
