GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man was arrested Monday for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl last week at a local park.
According to the Greenfield Police Department, officers received a report March 15 about a sexual assault that occurred near Palm Avenue four days prior.
The victim had met with two male acquaintances, a 14-year-old juvenile and 32-year-old Niceforo Ramirez De Jesus, who drove all three to a local liquor store and bought alcohol for the minors. He then drove them to the park and consumed the alcohol.
As the evening progressed, De Jesus took the youth to another Greenfield park, where they continued to drink until the victim became intoxicated and passed out.
“De Jesus waited for the victim to wake up; however, as she was still intoxicated and unable to take care of herself, he began to sexually assault her,” police said in a news release.
Afterward, the victim — who had passed out again — was abandoned near the park. She was located the following morning by family members and taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries she had received during the assault.
“The investigation is ongoing to determine whether the 14-year-old juvenile was involved, but he has not been charged with any crime,” police said.
De Jesus was arrested March 19 on charges of rape, lewd acts with a child under 14 years of age, annoying or molesting a child and oral copulation of a child under 14 years old. He was taken to Monterey County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
