KING CITY — A farm labor vehicle lost control Saturday afternoon and struck a group of pedestrians walking along First Street in King City, killing a Greenfield woman and injuring two others.

King City Police said the vehicle, which was carrying a trailer, was driving south in the 600 block of S. First Street at about 1:19 p.m. on Feb. 3 when it hit the six pedestrians, consisting of two adult women and four children.

One woman, 63-year-old Rebecca Evangelista of Greenfield, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The other woman was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

One child was slightly injured and released at the scene, while the other three children were not injured.

Police said the preliminary investigation has determined that alcohol and narcotics were not a factor in the accident.
