Bruins face Breakers in final league games

GREENFIELD — After two blowout games with the Marina Mariners the Greenfield Bruin baseball team will conclude the regular season with an away and home series with the league-champion Pacific Grove Breakers.

Greenfield (12-4 in league, 15-9 overall) will need to beat the Breakers in at least one game to have a shot at the Central Coast Section playoff berth.

“PG has already clinched the championship but I know that they will still be out to win,” said Greenfield head coach Ray Green. “We’ve been playing good baseball this season and we will have to play well against Pacific Grove.”

In the first game against Marina Antonio Castro was the winning pitcher with a no-hitter in the 14-0 contest. Castro had three hits in the game, Daniel Garcia hit a double and had three runs batted in, and JJ Rodriguez added a basehit.

In the second game in Greenfield Oscar Hernandez pitched three innings for the win and Ubaldo Trujillo came in for relief work in the 18-0 game. JJ Rodriguez smashed a homerun for the Bruins.

Greenfield played yesterday at Pacific Grove and will host the league champion Breakers tomorrow in Greenfield.
