GREENFIELD — City of Greenfield celebrated its 72nd birthday last week with councilmembers, city staff and community members gathering and eating cake at the City Hall Chambers.
Mayor Pro Tem Yanely Martinez and new Councilmember Angela Untalon were on hand Jan. 7 to ring in the long-awaited birthday.
Martinez said a few words on behalf of Mayor Lance Walker, who was unable to attend the event.
“I wish Greenfield a very happy 72nd birthday,” Walker wrote.
“I look forward to our 75th with a big large celebration and numerous activities,” he added.
Walker reminded the celebration attendees to not forget Tom Rogers, a big part of what the celebration of Greenfield means.
“We can’t forget the history of Greenfield, we can’t forget who we were, where we are now and where we are headed in the future,” Martinez said. “Most importantly, as a council we strongly believe that Greenfield can’t succeed if we don’t include our employees.”
City of Greenfield has big plans for upcoming city birthdays and will reveal them as the date comes closer.
