Bruins 9-1 in league after pair of wins

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield High varsity baseball team rebounded for its first league loss with a pair of wins last week against the Anzar Hawks. Greenfield beat the Hawks 9-5 at home on April 4 and completed the season series with an 8-1 victory in San Juan Bautista on Friday.

At the game played in Greenfield winning pitcher Antonio Castro threw for six innings to earn the win on the mound and banged out a double. JJ Rodriguez had two hits and an RBI and Ubaldo Trujillo pitched one inning of relief and had a basehit and a double with an RBI.

Oscar Hernandez had six strikeouts and pitched the entire seven innings in the win at San Juan Bautista. Castro continued to hit the baseball with three hits, incuding a double. Daniel Mendoza contributed with two hits including a homerun. Hernan Perea had two basehits and three RBI’s.

Greenfield improved to 9-1 in the Mission Trail Athletic League and 12-5 overall. The Bruins played yesterday in King City and will host the Mustangs tomorrow afternoon.
