SOUTH COUNTY — The Greenfield Lady Bruin softball team is in first place in the Coastal League with less than two weeks left in the regular season. Greenfield improved to 7-2 in league by beating the Gonzales Spartans and the York Falcons.
Last Friday at home Andrea Pantoja hit a single, a double, a triple, and a homerun to lead the Lady Bruins. Norma Ornelas hit a homerun and had three runs batted in and Miranda Zuniga had four hits and drove in four runs. Earlier in the week Greenfield had a lopsided victory in the Monterey Peninsula against the York School.
At 9-4 the Lady Bruins hosted rival King City on Monday, hosted the North Salinas Vikings yesterday, and play at Trinity Christian tomorrow afternoon.
