GREENFIELD — Maria Hernandez had a double-double in scoring and rebounding to lead the Greenfield High Bruins to a 48-37 victory over visiting Gonzales last Friday night. The win helped the Lady Bruins improve to 3-7 in the Mission Trail Athletic League. Denise Robles and Sofia Prieto scored 10 points each to lead the Gonzales scorers.
The Gonzales High JV team defeated Greenfield by a 36-35 score. Leading scorers for Greenfield were Ariel Carrillo with 20 points and Valerie Malagon with nine points.
In Greenfield’s first game of the week on Jan. 29 the Lady Bruins lost 65-45 against Soledad High. Yasmin Solis scored 17 points to lead Greenfield and Maria Hernandez finished with 11 points. Greenfield won the JV contest by a 46-32 score and were led in scoring by Ariel Carrillo’s 25 points.
On Jan. 31 the Lady Bruins fell 55-49 to the host Pacific Grove Breakers. Pacific Grove took a 32-17 halftime lead but Greenfield fought hard and outscored the Breakers 32-23 in the second half. Solis led Greenfield with 16 points, Hernandez added 12 points, and Alize Ortiz finished with 12 points of her own.
Greenfield lost the JV game to Pacific Grove, 32-27. Ariel Carrillo had 11 points to lead Greenfield in scoring. The Lady Bruin teams played last night in Monterey against Santa Catalina and will play at Stevenson.
