CiclovÃa comes to South County for first time
A new event to promote bicycling and fitness is making its way to South County for the first time this Sunday, Sept. 9, in Gonzales.
Measure C failing by narrow margin
The Special Parcel Tax measure to support the Greenfield Fire Protection District is close to approval with 65.76 percent; however, the measure needs two-thirds, or 67 percent, voter approval to pass.
Libraries to be closed during winter recess
All Monterey County Free Libraries (MCFL) branches will be closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 1 for the winter recess.
Greenfield FFA shows well at fair
Greenfield FFA had a successful year at this year’s Monterey County Fair, with students from the chapter exhibiting sheep, rabbits, floral arrangements and horticulture projects.
Federal disaster loans available to California small businesses
Small nonfarm businesses in 26 California counties and a neighboring Nevada county are now eligible to apply for low‑interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.
South County gears up for Amgen Tour
As South County prepares for the arrival of the 2018 Amgen Tour of California next Tuesday, local resident and cancer survivor Yolanda Maldonado has been selected to help kick off day three of the race considered to be America’s premier professional cycling event.
Organizations donate new TVs to local schools
Greenfield Lions Club, Family Giving Tree, Celeste Delamore and Al Galante donated a 55-inch TV to Oak Avenue Elementary School, presenting the gift to staff Sept. 7.
