Oak Avenue students learn about different careers

GREENFIELD — Police officers, firefighters, a chef, artist, lab tech and more spoke to Oak Avenue students about what they can do now to prepare for a career in those fields later.

Linda Juster, who works in a medical laboratory, told fifth-grade students from Thomas Higgins’ class to study hard and do their homework. Juster also said that her work required her best work always.

Students also heard from Chef Warner from Mary Chapa Academy, who trained in the military as well as at Le Cordon Bleu. Oak Avenue School alumni Stitch Rodriguez-Campos became an artist and is about to open up an art studio in Marina.

Rodriguez-Campos works with partner Stephanie Ornelas, and they have a grand opening scheduled for this Saturday, April 1, at 6 p.m., at 326 Reservation Road in Marina.

Rodriguez-Campos said that he wanted to incorporate reptiles into his artwork and showed the Oak Avenue students his pet corn snake, Galleria.
