Greenfield fire, police to hoop it up

GREENFIELD — There will be a battle on the Greenfield High School basketball court as the Greenfield Fire Association faces off against the Greenfield Police Department on Sunday, July 1.

The first-time event will include a meet-and-greet session beginning at 11 a.m. by the Greenfield public safety departments. The tip-off for the basketball game is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Greenfield Fire Association President Francisco Vazquez is looking forward to a fun and informative event and invites the public to come to the free event to enjoy the entertainment and to buy the tri-tip sandwich lunch as all proceeds will go back to the community in the form of donations, scholarships and sponsorships.

“In terms of the basketball game, we have our standouts and the police department has theirs,” said Vazquez. “We are looking forward to meet the community before the game. We will have some our fire engines and other equipment on display and we also want to be available to take pictures with kids and other members of the community. It will be an event with plenty of food, drinks, music and games.”
