Kong to serve on Planning Commission

The Greenfield City Planning Commission has a new Planning Commissioner.
The city council appointed David Kong fir a three-year term on March 14.
Kong replaces another commissioner, whose term expired on Dec. 31.
The city advertised for the opening in the Greenfield News and received two applications, Kong and Jessica Bautista....

Festival provides resources, screenings for young children

Greenfield parents, students and future students gathered at the Memorial Hall on March 15 to prepare for success in the early years of a child.
Families received aid in registering their children for kindergarten, and were given resources to improve children's kinder readiness, improving social emotional skill development and much more.

Council approves Patriot Park improvement projects

The Greenfield City Council on March 14 unanimously approved a public works contract to Thayer Construction for the construction of the Patriot Park Improvement Project.
The City of Greenfield is part of a Community Development Block Grant Program along with Salinas, Gonzales, Monterey County and Sand City.

Local march to support immigration reform

Residents are planning a march in support of Immigration reform on March 26. The March will begin at 10 a.m. at the Village Green Gazebo.

Council Oks Cannabis cultivation permits

The Greenfield City Council on Feb. 28 approved medical marijuana cultivation and manufacturing permits for six cannabis businesses, but directed city staff to hold off on dispensaries for now.
The permits were approved with a 3-2 vote.
Interim City Manager Robert Perrault said the medical marijuana industry would create between 300 to 500 jobs....
